We engineered the platform base with a 10-slat support system that eliminates the need for a box spring and provides exceptional mattress ventilation. Frame Construction & Support System
We built the Ariadne on a solid rubberwood frame reinforced with corner blocks and metal brackets at every joint. The platform base features 10 evenly spaced hardwood slats—each 3 inches wide—that distribute weight uniformly and allow air to circulate beneath your mattress.
This slat configuration supports memory foam, hybrid, and traditional innerspring mattresses without sagging or shifting. The center support rail on Queen and larger sizes adds extra stability for two sleepers, and we’ve tested the complete assembly to a static weight capacity of 800 pounds.
Upholstery & Fabric Care
The Ariadne’s linen-blend fabric is a 60/40 polyester-linen weave chosen for its durability and soft hand feel. We apply a stain-resistant treatment during manufacturing, so minor spills bead on the surface and can be blotted away before they set.
For routine care, vacuum the headboard and footboard weekly using your upholstery attachment to remove dust and pet hair. Spot-clean stains immediately with a damp microfiber cloth and a drop of mild detergent—never saturate the fabric, as excess moisture can reach the foam padding underneath.

Mattress Compatibility
The Ariadne accommodates standard mattress dimensions: Queen (60 × 80 inches), King (76 × 80 inches), and California King (72 × 84 inches). The interior platform measures one inch larger on each side to ensure your mattress sits securely without overhang.
Clearance & Placement
We recommend leaving at least 24 inches on each side of the bed for comfortable movement and nightstand placement. The assembled Queen footprint is 64 inches wide by 84 inches long, so measure your bedroom doorways and hallways before delivery—the headboard ships in one piece and stands 52 inches tall.

Questions About the Ariadne Bed
No box spring is needed. The Ariadne features a 10-slat solid wood platform base that provides full support for any mattress type, including memory foam, hybrid, latex, and traditional innerspring models.
The slats are evenly spaced to promote airflow and prevent sagging, and the included center support rail on Queen and larger sizes ensures stability for two sleepers. Simply place your mattress directly on the slats and you’re ready to sleep.
Most customers complete assembly in 45 to 60 minutes with two people. The bed arrives in two boxes with pre-drilled holes, labeled hardware, and an illustrated manual.
You’ll attach the side rails to the headboard and footboard, insert the 10 slats into the rail brackets, install the center support beam, and screw in the tapered legs. We provide an assembly video on our support page that walks you through each step, and all necessary tools (including an Allen wrench) are included in the hardware pack.
The Ariadne accommodates mattresses from 8 to 14 inches thick. Thinner mattresses will sit lower relative to the headboard, while thicker mattresses create a more luxurious, elevated look.
We recommend a 10- to 12-inch mattress for optimal proportions—the top of the mattress will align nicely with the lower tufting on the headboard, and you’ll still have plenty of cushioned surface to lean against when sitting up.
The Ariadne is designed as a fixed platform bed and is not compatible with adjustable bases. The 10-slat system and side rails are engineered to support a traditional flat mattress.
If you need adjustable features like head or foot elevation, we recommend our Parkview or Hampton models, which can accommodate split adjustable bases in King and California King sizes.

The linen-blend upholstery has a factory-applied stain-resistant treatment, so most liquids bead on the surface when addressed quickly. The Ariadne currently ships in three curated colorways: Oat, Dove Gray, and Navy. We do not offer custom fabric options at this time, but these neutral tones are designed to coordinate with a wide range of bedding and décor styles.
